Join the Hong Kong Philharmonic’s brilliant wind players under conductor Gordon Hunt for an afternoon of elegance, charm, and spirited music-making. The programme opens with Hummel’s Adagio, Theme and Variations, featuring Principal Oboe Michael Wilson in a showcase of lyrical beauty and virtuosity. The ensemble then brings to life Dvořák’s Serenade for Wind Instruments, a warm and joyful masterpiece filled with Bohemian folk character. The concert culminates with Richard Strauss’s Sonatina no.2 Fröhliche Werkstatt (Happy Workshop), a witty and exuberant celebration of wind sonorities that delights with its playful energy and craftsmanship.
